Hopper was modeled in Carrara, UV unwrapped in Wings3D and painted in Tattoo. This model is used to test use Tattoo's ability to work as a low-cost, 3D painting solution. There were several learning issues about the work flow between all of these programs and ultimately, I have decided to use Tattoo to only block in the colors for a PhotoShop re-work of the texturing.
Tattoo, while a neat concept and little program, didn't prove to be strong enough to change my painting techniques from within 2D painting applications. This isn't to say that 3D painting is out for me, it's just not the right tool for me to use for serious texture map work.
